Resilience in Action and Belief

CRÉ/GRIN Workshop organized by Federica Berdini and Catherine Rioux

 

Resilience is commonly understood as the ability that agents exhibit in stressful, uncertain, or challenging situations, when they ‘bounce back,’ adapt, and thrive despite adversity. This workshop is dedicated to a philosophical exploration of the epistemic and practical aspects of human resilience, in particular via the notions of grit, hope, and coping.

10:35-11:35 Katie Stockdale (University of Victoria) – “Intrinsic Faith and Resilience”

11:35 to 12:30 break

12:30-1:30 Jennifer Morton (University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill) – “What Should a Teacher Believe?”

1:35 to 2:35 Catherine Rioux (Université Laval/GRIN) – “Hope, Sincerity, and Commitment”
